~Stitching Update and a Surprise Gift for JoJo~

The front of my A Gardener's Journal

I'm still working on A Gardener's Journal as part of Stitch-a-long hosted by the gorgeous Chookyblue
I have done a pieced back with some of the fabrics used in the quilt...
I'm very happy with it and hope to get this sandwiched real soon...

Thanks so much to Chooky for running this fabulous quilt in Stitch-a-long and to all the gals who drop by and leave comments of encouragement!!!!!!!!
~I have thoroughly enjoyed this journey~

Meanwhile over Christmas JoJo received a surprise gift from Lynn who was my partner in 2011 in Chooky's Christmas Swap

The card

The message to JoJo

and.....a lovely bright pillowcase
Thank you so much Lynn......JoJo just absolutely loved it and is looking forward to seeing it again and using it in July when we celebrate 'Christmas in July'

Meanwhile my New Year's project is this 'Welcome Home Door Stop' by yep, you guessed it, my favourite Designer Anni Downes of Hatched and Patched

The fabrics are from Anni's 'Some Kind of Wonderful' range
I bought this as part of a kit and now ready to get into it!!!

I'm very excited also as I have just joined an on-line swap group (Friends-in-Stitching) and a lot of the gals I have met last year at the Sydney Craft and Quilt Fair so this will challenge me in a lovely way to get more stitching done......and I'm a bit nervous about it as well

Sending Love and Prayers to everybody affected by the devastating bushfires around the countryside and to all those brave firefighters out there
and especially to our own Chooky who is in amongst the most frightening time out there
Stay Safe.........Dzintra

Well done with your GJ, and the pieced back is fabulous. Now to get it quilted for winter. Lynn is so thoughtful, I bet Jojo was thrilled to get her own parcel (as we all are with SSCS). You know I love Anni's designs too, I'm sure we will both be using lots of her patterns in FiS swaps.

Oh my goodness, dear Dzintra, that is a scary situation...
Prayers from us as well...unfortunately, these are fairly common occurrences for us as well, during our Summers...

How wonderful for JoJo to receive this lovely gift!
And I just love the coloring in the sweet door stop...adorable...
Your quilt is gorgeous of course...you have nothing to be nervous about, you are so talented!! :)
Again, prayers and safety for all...
Love to you, dear friend...

You are busy as can be creating such beautiful and thoughtful gifts my dear. I so love your world.

RED KIDNEY BEAN PATTIES? Now that sounds so good! We love beans and my next adventure will be a cabbage and white bean soup. We need soup around here for it is a gastly cold winter so far and anything HOT is welcomed!

Have a magnificent day! Anita

Precious friends!

YES, I had heard about your heat wave and I am glad to know that you are on the coast and are not experiencing TOO MUCH of the heat, but for the other souls inland who are having to deal with the fires, my heart goes out to all. What a strange weather pattern we are ALL experiencing. Stay well precious one, and OH, that recipe idea you shared really has piqued my interest! LOVE! Anita

Good afternoon precious sister!

Thank you my dear for waking up to come to my side of the world...oh how I wish we had all the time and money in the world to travel and seek the wonders there in; but I suppose my own slice of the world has enough, so I best become more observant and write, write, write away!

Much love, Anita

Right near our dear Anita...yippee!
Dzintra, dearest, I pray you are keeping cool and staying hydrated.
We are thinking of you....hope very much you will see some relief soon.
That really sounds unbearably hot. Is it humid as well, or is it a dry heat? I would imagine you have air conditioning at your home.
On our side of the world, it feels like the North Pole, I kid you not...
On Monday it will be negative 20 Celsius....
We are both at extremes!
Be well, dear friend...
Sending you a cool and crisp breeze and lots of love,
- Irina

Palomasea said...

Once it gets into the negatives, it all rather feels the same :)
Sending another cooling breeze to you and a big hug, dear friend...
Love from MN,
- Irina
