~Airing of the Quilts at Braidwood~

Last weekend Mr Armchair and JoJo and I went up to the historic village of Braidwood for their annual Quilt Event incorporating Airing of the Quilts

We parked outside this little place around the corner from the main road

Quilts in various windows on the street

I just had to have one of the Eiffel Tower olive oils from Laurel Brae

Quilts airing on the verandahs

This one was used as a tablecloth for Christmas goodies

A lovely little shop 'Little Finch' selling handmade goods

Check out the Christmas bunting here hanging in the window
looks suspiciously like Anni Downs fabric!!!
(please correct me if I am wrong as I have not seen this before)
And yes of course we had to buy some bunting

A lovely day out
and all too soon we ended up back at our starting point

Back home and here is the bunting all together in it's little box
The one that caught JoJo's eye is the one with the candy canes and yes Jennifer (at Little Finch) went through the boxes to find that specific one for her......
Thanks so much Jennifer!!!

Good morning sweet one!

What a festive tradition this is! I honestly believe we all need these practices of ART and beauty in our communities to keep us reaching for ideas, solutions and expressions of the ideals we want for our world. How lovely. The school I taught in had a resident artist come to teach EVERY GRADE LEVEL how to make a quilt, expressing their view of the French speaking world. Now the lobby houses five beautifully made quilt (à la child!) and it is wonderful to see them every time I go in now as a substitute teacher.

HAVE A WARM AND WONDERFUL DAY! Anita

Lovely !! thanks for showing us ;-)

Amazing! what strikes me is that here in England we could not dream of having quilts outside. Our unpredictable and often wet weather, you'd be dashing in and out every 5 minutes, grabbing them inside!

Wonderful to see the quilts. I remembered at about 2pm too late to get DH and go. There's always next year and your tour was wonderful.
Bunting is very nice. The candy canes and gingerbread men are cute.
Jojo will enjoy them for ages.

I'd love to go to the airing one day, it looks like a beautiful event. The bunting is a great idea...I think it's a panel of Anni's. thanks for the photos of all the quilts, I'm sure you felt inspired afterwards.

My sweet friend,

Thank you for asking about my husband! The Ace bandage seems to have helped him! The nurse said that it would help with the swelling and so far so good! But with our extremely cold weather, I suppose that those things will occur; my HIP suddenly started to hurt me yesterday to the point of exhausting me when I walked! UNLIKE ME!

I wish you rest and a good night's sleep! Anita

Good morning Dzintra dearest! Oh thank you for visiting me and my hip is much better! Ruben rubbed my back and that took out the kink. I think it all starts somewhere in my lower back then permeates down to my hips! But one session with Mr. GOLDFINGERS took the pain away! teehee...

OH it sounds like your ocean weather is just fantastic. We have many lakes here and due to our unusual warm winter, I woke up this morning to see the most gorgeous layer of fog outside my window. It is absolutely stunning, but very weird. We are supposed to have tons of snow here!

Happy day dear one and CHEERS! Anita

I love to be right near our beautiful Anita! :))
Dzintra, dearest, what a treat to see your message this morning!
I agree with you...Fechin's paintings seem to capture the soul, don't they?
I'm glad you liked them...
And Happy Summer to you! Is it quite warm? Oh, do smell the ocean air for me...
Yes, as Anita mentioned, we have a dense fog this morning...so odd for December...
I think we are craving a bit of snow!
Have a beautiful day, dear friend..
Hugs,
- Irina

Welcome To My World

Hello, my name is Dzintra Ingrid ... have been known as Ingrid and since our Sea Change I have started to use Dzintra ... pronounced without the D ... (but still known as Ingrid, I know, it's confusing ...)

Welcome to my world ... a journal of our Sea Change ... Mum to three wonderful children ... bringing up a daughter with a disability and seeing life through her eyes ... being a new Nanna ... photos ... inspiring quotes ... taking on a cookery course ... the odd recipe ... and trying to get some stitching done amongst all this ...
