This blog is all about me......I come here for respite in between caring for JoJo (our Daughter who has Special Needs)......I am addicted to starting new projects......I am becoming a fabric-a-holic... I love to try out recipes... take a beach walk and breathe in that salty blue air......love to have coffee...sip a glass of champagne......read a book......I am Queen of the Armchair and am inspired by all the wonderful blogs out there!!!

A Trip Up To The 'Big Smoke'...

Mr Armchair commutes to work and one day a couple of weeks ago JoJo and I went with him up to Canberra for some shopping and a dental appointment...

We left the Bay...some of the scenes just before we crossed the bridge...
and headed up the Mountain...

One of my favourite shops...The Essential Ingredient at Kingston and not far from the Dentist and when we come up here we always call in and get a little something...

Beautiful timber boards...

Colourful tagines...

French cheeses on offer...

and Cornichons...we bought a little cheese and 2 jars of these Cornichons!!!

Later on JoJo had a chocolate biscuit...

and I had the best breakfast
Home made Hash Browns...the best scrambled egg...and tomato topped with rocket lettuce...
just perfect on a cold winter's day...

This is the cafe...as you can see not much action outside due to the cold day...
but lovely and warm inside...it will probably be busier later on in the day!!!

After that we headed off in to town to meet my Daughter and
Grandson who both had a ride on the merry go round ...
a must do while up here!!!

The original organ, the hand-carved woodenThe merry- go-round started life in Melbourne in 1914. The fifty two hand carved wooden horses and two elephants were specially imported from Germany.
The twisted brass upright poles came from Scotland.
After extensive restoration work, the merry-go-round began operating in Canberra's Petrie Plaza in 1974. TTTThe ed wooden horses iand the two elephants were imported from Germany, while its twisted brass poles came all the way from Scotland.

And here's a big wave from Ryan!!!

After that we wandered around for a bit and then headed off to have a coffee...hot chocolate and chat before going in different directions and then finally back home again...
A Great Day!!!

It's been quite cold here this Winter although not as cold as where we came from inland...
Keeping warm and cozy inside and not venturing out too much is what's happening here...
Getting JoJo off everyday on her programme and being here when she comes back...
and of course too many stitching projects to do...
How come I keep wanting to get more!!!

A litte bit of baking and cooking been happening here too this week...
All good for the Soul!!!
Keep warm...Dzintra

What a wonderful day you had, Dzintra! Love those cups of cappucino!
And if ever you find the answer to why you want to get more stitcheries and other projects, before you finish the ones you have, please let me know ;o) I might be able to do something against it then.
Have a lovely weekend! xo

Glad you had a lovely day in the bigish city. You managed to take some great photos from your trip. What a better way to spend on a cold day than stitching! Enjoy Sunday - Hugs Nat

Fabulous post Miss Dzintra, almost as good as being there... I love the tribute to a carer on your side panel, it could relate to many things about caring...

Seems a good day was had by all. Even whoever had to go to the Fang Dr.
The Merry go Round was always a hit with my girls when we visited The Big Smoke.

Hello Dzintra,

Thanks for sharing your day out. Love the Merry-go-round. Hope the dentist was Ok. Nothing like a bit of shopping after to take your mind of it.
Happy days and stay warm.

That looks like a wonderful day out! Aren't such days great? Yummy food and lots to see and do. It's cold here too - and humid - so I prefer staying inside.

I've ridden on the merry go round myself - as a kid and then again with my kids when they were little! I knew it had been around for a long time, but didn't really know the history, so thanks so much for sharing a little part of my home town!

Welcome To My World

Hello, my name is Dzintra Ingrid ... have been known as Ingrid and since our Sea Change I have started to use Dzintra ... pronounced without the D ... (but still known as Ingrid, I know, it's confusing ...)

Welcome to my world ... a journal of our Sea Change ... Mum to three wonderful children ... bringing up a daughter with a disability and seeing life through her eyes ... being a new Nanna ... photos ... inspiring quotes ... taking on a cookery course ... the odd recipe ... and trying to get some stitching done amongst all this ...
