A Gardener's Journal Progress...and a very special trip to Bowral!!!

An update of my progress on the Gardener's Journal Quilt by Anni Downes of Hatched and Patched...
I had finished stitching Block A and had started to piece it the night before I broke my arm...

Still going to the physio...shoulder won't fully function for 12 months...a long long process!!!
However getting back into using the sewing machine now (Nina)  and hope to finish it this week...yay!!!

Progress on Block B...Smell the Roses...

On the way to celebrate Mum's 80th birthday last week we stopped off at one of my favourite towns...Bowral...always have a cuppa there and go to a lovely shop called My Place specializing in Moda fabrics amongst other gorgeousness...

I saw this cute little quilt hanging there together with a kit next to it and it was an instant purchase for me!!!

The quilt is called Hopscotch Baby by Bunny Hill designs...

I thought it was just beautiful...all pretty and pink and chocolatey...not at all like me LOL!!!

We had a quick wander through Corbett Gardens...

Tri

Now here is a very very special home dear to my heart...The Corbett Gardens Guest House which my beautiful  Nanna/Vecmamin used to have...
With my family back in the early 60's...Mum with my 2 small sisters...me and my brother with my brothers's godfather next to him...and Nanna in the background with my step grandfather...

And I'm sooo excited...after looking for it since 1994 whenever we were up that way I think I have found it!!!  Look at the left hand step above...then at the right hand step in the family pic...very very similar...My Heart jumped when I spotted it and the road looked familiar...(perhaps a sign) a young girl skipping up that same road came to mind...and I can't stop thinking about it...More research needs to be done!!!

Dearest Dzintra,

I know that in time, and with more physical therapy, your shoulder will come back enough to help you do what you WANT and need to do! I know it has to be so frustrating however....my dear friend fell and hurt her rib and that has totally thrown her off....I wish you complete healing SOON and what a SWEET LITTLE PLACE YOU WENT TO FOR TEA! And all the other gardens and places you went to must have been so charming my dearest one. Peace to you and your beloved ones, Anita

Lovely new header photos. Hang in there Dzintra, it took a whole year to recover fully for my shoulder injury and subsequent op.
Although I regained full mobility after a few months, it still onjected to a lot of routine tasks, like raking and sweeping.
I know how frustrating it all is.
Your raspberry brownie quilt will be lovely :-P

It is a beautiful post Dzintra. Glad you are able to use the sewing machine and you obviously can hand stitch so, you are all ok! Lovely photo of Bowral. I would have to visit and have a look at all the trees and leaves I can use for dyeing hehe!

Oh dearest, thank you for asking about my heel! Well, all is well! Just an injury from lifting too many heavy objects! I have the LITTLE DOG SYNDROME....I am small, but I think I am bigger than I am...so I do BIG THINGS and get myself in trouble, like injured ligaments! ALL IS WELL HOWEVER, and thank you so much for asking!!!!! Anita

I love your Annie Downs stitcheries, The little lawn mower is so cute. It must be so frustrating to not be able to handsew, but good that you can use the machine. Beautiful photos of Bowral, lovely autumny gardens. How exciting for you to find a missing link to the past! so special that it brought back childhood memories.

Your Gardener's Journal Quilt goes straight to my heart. You know how I love gardens/gardening! Its gorgeous! I can't believe how you've been able to keep doing your beloved stitchery in spite of your shoulder. I wish I had half your drive and determination! lol Our Mums are close to the same age! Sounds like you had a great celebration~ Love from the Up Over , Vicki
