~New Farmers Markets on Trial~

Early this month our area began trials on a Farmers Market run by SAGE (Sustainable Agriculture Gardening Eurobodalla)
I'm really really hoping that these markets are successful enough to keep going!!!

Above are Purple Carrots grown by Queen Street Growers
Old Mill Road was there also with produce and fresh organic chickens

At the start of the market looking down towards the Moruya River

Backdrop...The Moruya River

Fresh Basil in the pot

The most beautiful produce......

Honey

Potatoes

Garlic strung up

A fantastic first market......if sales are anything to go by these markets were a huge SUCCESS!!!
And dinner that night......Basil Pesto Pasta and Garden Salad

Farmer's Markets...what a blessing, dear Dzintra! And I wonder whether in your climate they could run year-round?
I am always so excited when June rolls around, and the FM open...they have really become mainstays around here, and oh, what a difference!
Your dinner sounds delicious, my friend!
By the way, I absolutely must run out to get the new DH magazine.
Are you having a bit of a reprieve from the heat? How is JoJo doing?
Sending love to you,
- Irina

I just love Farmer's Markets, especially in Winter when you cam buy the most delicious organic vegetables to make soup. I am really glad yours was such a success! I have never tasted purple carrots.

I hope it stays too Dzintra. Those purple carrots look colourful and you know how I would love to dye with them haha! Keep me update with the market okay - have a good night...

HOW ABSOLUTELY FUN are those purple carrots my dear! Imagine the soup you could make with those? I love an open-air market and my trouble is that I eat my way through all the stalls! My time living in France and going to school there meant that my walk from the house to the school was lined in village merchants selling all kinds of goodies. By the time I finished my three mile walk to class, I had already eaten two breakfasts!

I feel like potato soup tonight. CREAM of potato soup!

Enjoy thinking up recipes! Anita

GOOD MORNING MY DEAR (from my perspective!) I am off to go teach today, but I wanted to come by to respond! WE ARE HAVING SUCH A CHILL here; it was -7 F yesterday and we don't get our "heat wave" (around 20 above) until the end of the week, so purple carrot soup sounds really good right now! OO! I wonder if you could make purple carrot cake?

ENJOY THINKING of the possibilities! Anita
