It's Christmas In July!!!

'Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before...

What if Christmas, he thought,

doesn't come from a store?

What if Christmas, perhaps,

means a little more?'

Theodor Seuss Geisel (Dr Seuss)

~1904-1991. How the Grinch stole Christmas~

It's Christmas in July here in our part of the world!!!

Browsing through the latest issue of Homespun magazine (No 86 Vol 11 No 7) I came across these delightful little felt ornaments amongst others...

Designed by Lenna Green of Little Green Cottage...

and a first for me...I received the magazine on a Thursday...

Had made Santa by Thursday and finished the other 2 off by Saturday...

all in time for our very own little Christmas In July dinner...

JoJo just loves to celebrate all occasions...she was so excited about it all...

How could I refuse...

I started off just intending to do Santa for JoJo...

but these were such fun to make I added a Snowman for Mr Armchair...

Santa...

and of course I had to have one too after all that!!!

We made a quick fruit cake...added cherries to the top...a sprinkling of slivered almonds...some brandy...

and made a classic dessert of the custard world...

Floating Islands...In Latvian...Peldosas Salas

In French...Ile Flottante

Floating pieces of meringue in a custard sauce...

Today I'm off to take JoJo to a local production of The Women at our local theatre group
The Women is a 2008 American comedy film written, produced and directed by Diane English. The screenplay is an updated version of the George Cukor-directed 1939 film of the same name based on a 1936 play by Clare Boothe Luce.

Faery Kisses...The Seventh Kiss, And A Word From Shakespeare!!!

Here's a post I've been wanting to do for a while...
This gorgeous quilt...Faery Kisses by Helen Stubbings of Hugs'nKisses done in cooler colours...
Each BOM (Block of the Month) is called a Kiss...

I fell in love with the warmer coloured one at Rosemont The Patchwork Shop completed by Jo...
I also couldn't resist the 'sewing writing' around the border...

If you see a faery ring
In a field of grass,
Very lightly step around,
Tip-Toe as you pass,
Last night Faeries frolicked there
And they're sleeping somewhere near.
If you see a tiny faery Lying fast asleep
Shut your eyes And run away,
Do not stay to peek!
Do not tell Or you'll break a faery spell.

William Shakespeare
Part of my Faerie series.

My quilt top ready for the Faery Ring border...

I've done a lot of beadwork on it also...will take some close up pics another time...

The edges of the wings are maroon Mill Hill beads

Before the hearts were sewn on...

And the bit I've been busting to get to...the 'sewing writing'...

And the perfect book to have by my side while I stitch with these very special Faeries...
The Secret Lives of Elves and Faeries, From the Private Journal of The Reverend Robert Kirk...
There is a Faery Kisses gallery over here...
And I still love this quilt as much today as I did when I first saw it 5 years ago!!!

Welcome To My World

Hello, my name is Dzintra Ingrid ... have been known as Ingrid and since our Sea Change I have started to use Dzintra ... pronounced without the D ... (but still known as Ingrid, I know, it's confusing ...)

Welcome to my world ... a journal of our Sea Change ... Mum to three wonderful children ... bringing up a daughter with a disability and seeing life through her eyes ... being a new Nanna ... photos ... inspiring quotes ... taking on a cookery course ... the odd recipe ... and trying to get some stitching done amongst all this ...
