~Melodrama at Mogo~

I'm currently in a Melodrama ... a Melodrama exaggerates the plot and characters in order to appeal to the emotions......typically there is a Hero......Heroine.....and a Villain
This is currently playing at The Gold Rush Colony at Mogo to a sell out house
It's title is 'The Wake of Joseph Flanagan' and done in good ol' Irish style
along with lots of Singalongs!!!
Written by Jopeph Quigley and directed by Barb Gellatly

And I am having soooooo much fun as a Waitress......Singalongs with the Audience  Mourners and a little fun duet with Maddie and I singing 'Daddy Wouldn't Buy Me a Bow Wow'

Daddy Wouldn’t Buy Me a Bow Wow" is a song written in 1892 by prolific English songwriter
Joseph Tabrar.  It was written for, and first performed in 1892 by, Vesta Victoria at the South London Palace, holding a kitten.
In 1895 Toulouse-Lautrec painted May Belfort singing it.

Some of the costumes of the Bushrangers above

Barb brought in some pics of dress at the time

The setting.......Diggers Rest Tavern at the Gold Rush Colony

Chris aka Bushranger singing "The Gypsy Rover'

Florence aka Flo played by Robbie

Me and Maddie rehearsing Bow Wow
We actually pretend to hold a kitten and pat it whilst singing
We play nervous, twitty, shy girls running up to the stage and only do the first verse speaking style and then lead the Audience Mourners into the main chorus
F U N   F U N   F U N

'The stage area known as 'The Snug'

And I couldn't resist a pic by the fire
Dressed all ready to serve......in green of course!!!

Colin aka Gular......
All the towns mentioned in the Melodrama are real places on the South Coast

Final scene of main cast at the end of the Melodrama

Jeremy aka Captain Foxlow (Villain.....hissssss)
and Steph aka Mrs Malone

Greg aka Smithy (hero!!!)

Brian (Cowboy) aka Dan Murphy......me and fellow Waitress Monica

All set in the Theme Park of The Gold Rush Colony which has buildings portraying life in Australia in the Gold Rush Days

Even the Chinese were involved

A Church also

And The Tavern just before the first show
I'm having an absolute ball doing this and 3 years ago would never dreamt of having so much fun doing something I had not done before!!!

Dzintra, I am very late visiting EVERYONE TODAY! But nonetheless, so happy to visit each blogger's world. I am so excited for you since I know the thrill of the theatre, the hard work, the fun, the tears and the cast parties!!!!!!!!!!!

What can I say but that your costumes are super, your songs and script are probably SO FUN, and that the collaboration of so many people is a priceless experience. AND HOW IS YOUR SINGING EXPERIENCE GOING? How true; we see where we are now, and we wonder how we even got here...all we know is that if any one would have said years ago that we would be doing what we are currently involved in, we would not have believed it.

Dream it
Believe it
Do it!!!

Hugs, Anita

How very interesting, not only that you've a part in such a production, but also that it's all in period costume and in the proper setting! What a fantastic opportunity, and good for you joining in the fun!

Good on you Dzintra! Sounds like heaps of fun. I love shows like that. I also love the history of gold in our country and all about the bushrangers. I've looked into a bit of it in Victoria and find it so interesting. You should get a little video clip of you singing. Now that would be something to see.Bet you're just wonderful!

My darling Dzintra! By now, you must be sitting by a fully installed fire place! YOU MUST SHARE PHOTOS SOON! And I'm so happy to see your visit this morning! Yes, we are literally on polar opposites here, us reveling in the sun and the heat, dreaming of ocean breezes, and you, feeling the lovely chill and getting relief from a hearth..AND enjoying the melodrama! This is going to be so fun, and I'm so proud of you, singing and acting! LOVE IT!

Now to go start my day; I tutor today and then I'm off to see our dear Irina!!!!!! Hugs to you my friend. Anita

Hello, my name is Dzintra Ingrid ... have been known as Ingrid and since our Sea Change I have started to use Dzintra ... pronounced without the D ... (but still known as Ingrid, I know, it's confusing ...)

Welcome to my world ... a journal of our Sea Change ... Mum to three wonderful children ... bringing up a daughter with a disability and seeing life through her eyes ... being a new Nanna ... photos ... inspiring quotes ... taking on a cookery course ... the odd recipe ... and trying to get some stitching done amongst all this ...
