As has been over the news the last days our gorgeous Sunshine State of Queensland is a disaster area with many towns flooded and cut off...lives taken...people missing...houses submerged...
The gals over at Gum Tree Designers have put out an appeal called 'New Beginnings' for Sewing Kits to be distributed to various Sewing Groups around the areas...
Sewing Kits called for are basic...
- a sewing caddy - hand made with needlebook and pincushion
- scissors with keep
- 6 embroidery threads
- needles
- a fat quarter
I will be putting together a kit similar to this one and sending it on...
I'm sure any donation will be gratefully accepted so that the crafters can have some stitching to do when they are ready as no doubt all their supplies of their beloved hobby will have been destroyed...
For more information about this appeal visit The Gum Tree Designers over here...
Kits will be put together on 1st February ready to distribute...
Pic taken in Ipswich a city of 160,000...
My Heart and Prayers are with you all in Queensland...God Bless

Hi Dzintra, that is a good thing to do. Sewing kits for the flood victims. I would love to make one too. Is there a dateline for this?
Hugs

Yes, I think I will take some time and make a sewing kit too!

HUgs and many thoughts go out to you and all enduring this. Wonderful what you are creating to help! HUgs and Blessings
As I sit here agonising over paint colours for my new home, I am very much aware that many people have just watched their homes being swept away. It is hard for me to imagine their grief.
I will be sending a kit or several, if I can get some of my frineds involved.
Hi Dzintra.......
Its sad this flooding .... and I am so numb…we haven’t been able to get to our little farm @ .....ESK…..bridge washed away one end of the street…………… and the other bridge 30feet under …………. IGA Supermarket manager of Esk told me Wednesday………………….no way in …..hoping water goes down by maybe Friday afternoon……………..Our House is next to a Creek …so thinking the worst …but …..all those other people …that have lost lives…………………..so I am very lucky………..
Hugs
A wonderful idea. It's great to see the craft community being able to help in this way.
What a lovely idea Dzintra... I'm sure those affected will be thankful for these kind gifts to bring a bit of normality back to their lives..
We are so lucky not to be affected by all this.. my heart goes out to all of them... xxx Julie
Oh Dzintra,
what a kind thing to do....the news of this devastation came as a huge shock, for I never heard of such a thing in that part of the world....but dearest, I hope that you are well, and that your efforts to help will make a world of difference. Very lovely,, indeed are the works of your hands, Anita
Oh yes, most precious one, HELPLESS is the perfect word to explain how any of us feel when all we can do is watch from a distance, but to pray. May this be over soon and may there be no casualties.....Anita
hugs and prayers to everyone there !!
its pretty devastating to watch on the news. :(

Seems were all doing what we can for thoes affected by the floods.
It will be the little things and handmade gifts that bolster spirits after the initial shock.
I will deffinately make a kit.
Thanks for the post and stay well.
My heart just goes out to these people and the horrible twist of fate that pervaded their lives.
For those of us so far away perhaps we could send a monetary donation so someone there could purchase the kit on our behalf and the women can begin to sew their lives back together...
