Finished projects FEBRUARY 2018 and Goings On

Here we are 29 December and I feel quite the stranger here on my Blog

I've had a few things happening with allergies here namely coughing when I eat plus feelings of heaviness and other issues
This all appears to be due to the environment,  and living at sea level
These all but disappear when I go up to higher ground/altitude

Consequently we are looking at moving up to higher ground but its all such a big deal as we have to take JoJo into account and look into new disability services
In this case we can see where Health becomes No 1 as it would be hard being how I feel as we are getting older
Thank goodness I have spoken with other people and quite a few have similar issues and have moved for similar reasons

And I thought I was a Beach Chick but looks like I could be a Mountain Girl as per my maiden name!!!

First one is a block for Chookyblue for a Quilt that was being organized for her
Seeing she is into chooks and her favourite colour is blue this was my contribution

Next a little pouch using Japanese fabrics and 3 headbands using fat quarters

I also got around to pinning 2 Quilts
The top one is Past Times using from my fat 1/4 stash

and this one is one of Thimbleblossoms patterns

Next up is a block from York Plains by Hat Creek Quilts which I think will go into being a Table Runner

JoJo brought home a little Valentine's gift that she made for us

A lovely set of Coasters

And of course she requested a special dinner for Valentine's Day

Chicken, Bacon, Tomato, Sweet Potato, Snow Peas all together

And a Dessert to top it off......Apple Snow

And I made Manu Fieldel's Pear and Almond Tart......mmmm, so delicious

I thought I would work on this Stitcher's Roll which is from a Girls Day in the Country Day
Pattern by Anni Downs of Hatched and Patched

February also took me up to the High Country for an experiment to see how I fared up there
These comings and goings went on for the whole year and the results are very encouraging!!!
I set myself up with my sewing machine and relished the time alone during the day at a relative's place

I talked with a real estate agent in the area and he said he had moved about 15 people who had moved to the coast back to this small Alpine town due to asthma, allergies, humidity etc
So far so good for me
We will see what Fate has in store for us!!!

So my Friends I'll see if I can catch up with Goings On for this year.......see how I go lol

Craft Show Sights Around Darling Harbour~Part 4.......a delicious cake......and a Giveaway!

While we were at the Quilt Show at Darling Harbour we also took the opportunity to have a look around the Harbour itself...

We came across the HMAS Endeavour which is a replica of the boat that Captain James Cook sailed to Australia on...

Closer up to her...

Looking up at the mast...
I fell in love with this magnificent boat and thought it was so beautiful...
all the workmanship involved, just amazing!

Looking towards North Sydney...

I hadn't been to the Quilt Show for about 10 years and I felt like I have just had a mini holiday along with Mr Armchair and JoJo...
I have thoroughly enjoyed myself......loved the blogmeet and I think a lot of us bloggers felt like we 'just knew each other'

Thank you so much Chooky for organizing this......
You have done a fantastic job in getting us all together...
Here's to the next time we all meet!!!

And here's a post I've been meaning to do for a while...

Once A Season Swap Gift Arrived at Shez's......and Blueberry Muffins

I recently participated in a Once A Season Swap at Cheryll's and my parcel to Shez arrived on Friday!

I ummed and ahhhed about whether to enter this swap...
the brief was......send something either handmade or bought to a secret partner that depicts Winter...
I was at Moruya Markets and saw this cute little felt girl and she said to me "Winter"...
That did it......I came home and registered for the swap!!!

Also included was a stitchery pattern that said......'Winter' by Cathy Penton

A little felt pin keep...

And all stitcher's need chocolate......Blueberry Intense for Shez as it just seemed to match...
Thank you so much Cheryll for hosting this swap...
now I'm thinking...perhaps enter the Spring Swap...

And to think the Sun will be on her way back to the Southern Hemisphere in about 3 weeks time...
the mind boggles as we are entering into Winter here...

and it's a perfect Sunday morning to make Blueberry Muffins!!!

All perfectly gluten free...

Christmas 2011...and Sea Mist

Christmas Eve morning arrived and when looking down the street I saw a mist rising up the hill to our place...and it smelt so 'salty'...
Meanwhile Mr Armchair came back from town and said we have to go down to the beach and have a look at the this Seamist!!!

Maybe you can't see it too well but it was awesome...
I'd never seen this before...but then again we have only been here 4 years...
It had a freshness about it as well...

People swimming in it...
and you could still see through it all...

It was rather magical looking down to it, but probably not for the seafarers...

Meanwhile from this Australian Good Food Magazine I made a Christmas pudding...

I used Rapadura sugar instead of white sugar...hence the caramel colour...

All good with custard on the day!!!

Mr Armchair cleaned the yard up a bit ant it looked lovely in the bright sunshine...

'Little jewels' in the water bath...

A lovely blue hydrangea...

I also made a Fruit Cake...
fruit cake is not generally a Latvian tradition but JoJo loves it, as do I...

All wrapped waiting to cut into it...

Looking at the bay window...

A candle for Christmas Eve...JoJo very excited by now...

Potatoes ready to prepare for Potato Roesti...

together with some barbequed lamb...
a nice easy dinner before the big day!!!
JoJo still getting very excited by now...

At her day programme she made some sweets...

The tree...

Opening gifts...

JoJo loves Volkswagens and I had to buy her this table and chairs when I saw it...

Very happy here...

Just after the table was bought I saw a pattern for a cushion with a Combi on it and had to buy it for her...then I made the cushion for her...
more of this in OPAM (one project a month) in another post...

And dig this, Gluten Free Mince Pies...

The it was off to our Daughter Jacqueline's place...
here she is with her DH Bill and 2 littles, Ryan and Lidija...

Jacqueline now for about the 5th year in a row has made a gingerbread house...
I think it's tradition now!!!

Mr Armchair's Brothers and their Mother...

And for the first time in his 5 years Ryan wanted to choose and give Christmas gifts...
I scored star cookie cutters...

And Lidija wanted to join in too...
here I received 2 nail polishes (she likes nail polish) and a golden olive eye shadow...
All just perfect...thank you so much Ryan and Lidi...all so very special!!!

By evening Lidija had had it...

Seeing I have a new sewing machine Jacqueline has my nearly new other machine...
and the Prints Charming book...
and she says next year everyone is getting sewn presents...
Bring it on!!!!!!!

I seem to be posting every day here...just squeezing in the last for 2011 for my blog book...

If I haven't gotten back to you thank you everyone for coming round and
leaving your lovely comments...I appreciate every single one of them!!!
